Brooke and Mark’s kitchen seen here was a remodeling project completed for and seen on the premiere episode of “Moving Up” which aired January 29, 2005 on TLC. The couple, with their growing family, moved up to a larger, four-bedroom Victorian house & wanted to make it their own. By removing a wall and starting from scratch, Designer Ian Cairl was able to totally transform the space to reflect Brooke and Mark’s personal style making it the focal point of the home. Design elements include: Quarter Sawn white oak cabinets with a honey finish. End grain black walnut pegs were added to the corners of the shaker style doors and drawer fronts to bring a nostalgic feel to these elements. Soapstone countertops and farm sink were selected to go with the natural slate floor and back-splash. A 48” Pro-style range replaced an outdated wall oven and cooktop. Finally, a centrally located work station allows for food preparation, homework and casual dining. |
